Before starting pppoe edit /etc/ppp/options and /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
(insert your sympatico userID and passwd)

Also edit /etc/resolv.conf  to point to sympatico nameserver 
(e.g. 204.101.251.1 and 204.101.251.2) and 
/etc/sysconfig/network to remove the default gatewaydev.

To start - type "pppoed -i ethx", where x is 0 or 1.
